NOMINEES:
Jack Potter & Patrick Donahoe with 195 votesKris Kobach with 1990 votes
Sen Elect Roy Blunt with 209 votes
Rex Sinquefeld with 2678 votes
State Sen Rob Mayer with 942 votes

Jack Potter, Postmaster General (left) & Patrick Donahoe, Deputy Postmaster These two gentlemen, the leadership of the US Postal Service (USPS), have contended their interests lie in improving agency performance, consistency and that customers are the highest priority, and they CLAIM they would not do anything to kill this organization. And yet Donahoe continues calling for killing off USPS branches by expanding into Office Depots, supermarkets and pharmacies with stamp machines and other limited postal services. Indeed, had the Government not stepped in, Potter and Donahoe would have implemented 5-Day delivery (laying off thousands of workers and disrupting service) and allowed privatization of mail delivery by greedy corporations. Potter & Donahoe have NOT required major mailers to pay the appropriate costs for mass mailings, instead allowing major discounts that help Corporations and hurt consumers.
Postal customers still wait in long lines, mail is delivered late, and postal workers are over worked, all because offices are too understaffed to meet the needs of customers, due to the policies of Donahoe & Potter. The Postal Service has survived the arrival of the telephone for communication, air, car & train travel; it has survived wars and the Great Depression. We will survive the internet and this country’s present financial crisis, but only with leadership working for the PEOPLE and not Corporate America. Save the USPS—vote Donahoe/Potter Scrooges of the Year! Nominated by APWU #67

Kris Kobach, the UMKC law professor just elected as Kansas’s new Republican Secretary of State, is in sore need of a Scrooge Award to kick him off his pedestal. Kobach is a champion of running on the non-issue of fraudulent voting by undocumented immigrants (doesn’t occur) so he can push a stringent voter ID law which will discourage or prohibit voting by the poor and elderly (who usually vote Democrat). Kobach has said he’ll continue to supplement his income as house counsel for FAIR (the Federation for American Immigration Reform) a hate group. Kobach and FAIR get cities and states to pass unconstitutional anti-immigrant laws then Kobach milks the city and state, defending the law in court and losing. Kobach wrote the infamous anti-immigrant Arizona SB 1070 along with ALEC (the libertarian American Legislative Exchange Council) and backed by the Corrections Corporation of America. Kobach worked for John Ashcroft where he drafted parts of the Patriot Act. Before Kobach turns Kansas and Missouri into Arizona give Kris a Scrooging. VOTE Kobach FOR SCROOGE OF THE YEAR 2010 Nominated by Cross Border Network, MIRA & MEChA
Roy Blunt (R), MO Senator-Elect. Without Roy Blunt rounding up votes in the US House, George Bush's 2008 Wall Street bailout bill wouldn't have become law. Although Roy was willing to work overtime to bail out Wall Street investors in 2008, this year he opposed emergency aid to state and local governments intended to keep millions of fire fighters, teachers and social workers on the job and providing vital services. He called the emergency aid "a bailout." Financed by billions in corporate money in the 2010 election, Roy will be going to the Senate in January to wreak further havoc on Missouri's working families. For all he's done and will do to ruin our holidays, Roy Blunt richly deserves the title of Scrooge of the Year. Nominated by CWA 6355
Rex Sinquefeld, a St Louis multi-millionaire intent on buying laws that help the rich and screw over the rest of us. He paid millions to hire out of state workers to lie to the public, putting Proposition A on the ballot. His campaign to eliminate the Kansas City earnings tax strikes at the heart of the city’s ability to provide for its citizens. Without it, there would be massive layoffs of firefighters, cops, and a widespread crippling of vital city services. Sinquefeld’s agenda also includes privatization across the public sector, and repealing all income taxes in favor of a regressive mega-sales tax. Stop Rex! Vote Sinquefeld KC Scrooge of the Year! Nominated by IAFF 42
State Sen Rob Mayer, MO Senate Pro Tem – Elect. Big Businesses cheered when just a day after being elected Senate Pro Tem, Rob Mayer announced his number one priority would be to screw over working people by making Missouri a “right to work” state. This would devastate labor in Missouri, resulting in less organizing, lower wages, more occupational hazards— all to line the pockets of greedy corporations. Let’s show Sen Mayer where he can shove his “right to work” philosophy…Vote Rob Mayer for KC Scrooge! Nominated by CWA 6360
