Like every other campaign, Show-Me $15 was impacted by COVID in 2020. Since the murder of Michael Brown, Jr. in 2014, the workers leading the Show Me $15 have taught the rest of us about the intersection of race, class & gender in worker justice. All of it is interconnected. This year, in addition to continuing to amplify the voices & concerns of Black fast food workers in St. Louis, members of MO JWJ helped close down the McDonald’s on Hampton for more than 30 minutes by surrounding it with more than 60 cars. Members of the Faith Labor Alliance and the Workers’ Rights Board called local franchise owners repeatedly demanding PPE, hazard pay and sick pay for workers, as well as the rehiring of Ms. Bettie Douglas, who has been a leader with Show-Me $15 since 2013. We continue to demand $15 and Union!
